From July 1-4, there were five wrecks with injury in Barry County, and two of those results in arrests.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, two wrecks were on Friday, at the same place but different times, another was on Sunday and two were on Monday.
On Friday, at 2:18 p.m., Phillip Hankins, 81, of Monett, was driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue northbound on Highway 97, two miles east of Fairview, when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, traveling off the right side of the roadway and striking a tree.
Hankins suffered minor injuries and was transported to Cox Monett Hospital. He was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle sustained extensive damage.
Almost seven hours later, at 9:05 p.m. Tristan Fare, 33, of Cassville, was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima northbound in the same area, with his vehicle traveling off the left side of the roadway and striking a ditch.
Fare suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin. He was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle sustained minor damage.
At 11:20 p.m., Fare was arrested by the Patrol for driving while intoxicated, felony possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), possession of drug paraphernalia, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash and no seatbelt. He was released for medical care.
On Sunday, a single-vehicle wreck occurred at 1:55 p.m. on Farm Road 1060, two miles south of Purdy.
A 17-year-old female was driving a 2014 Dodge Journey northbound when her vehicle skidded off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The juvenile sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cox Monett Hospital. She was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
On Monday, another single-vehicle collision was at 1:45 p.m. on Highway 97, two miles east of Pioneer.
Douglas Linder, 58, of Stark City, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo westbound when he fell asleep, traveled across the center line and struck a bridge.
Linder suffered serious injuries and was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. A passenger in the vehicle, Shannon Linder, 52, of Stark City, also suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cox South.
Neither were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.
At 10:45 p.m., a wreck occurred on Stallion Bluff Road, five miles east of Shell Knob.
Austin Davis, 28, of Aurora, was driving a 2015 Kia Sorento westbound when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Davis and two passengers, Michaela Boykin, 25, of Monett, and Cheyenne Treichel, 20, of Monett, all suffered moderate injuries. Davis and Treichel were transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, and Boykin to Mercy Hospital in Aurora.
A fourth person in the car, Cherokee Treichel, 19, of Aurora, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
None of the persons involved were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.
At 11.29 p.m., Davis was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated causing serious physical injury and careless and imprudent driving involving a crash.
In total, nine people were arrested over from Friday to Monday in Barry County for the following:
• Misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
• Felony possession of a stolen firearm
• Felony possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), possession of drug paraphernalia and littering
• Warrant in McDonald County
• Warrant in Barry County and driving while suspended
• Felony DWI, aggravated offender, and felony driving while revoked
• Driving while intoxicated and failure to signal.
