Wildcats split games at Greenwood Classic
The Cassville boys soccer team (7-5-1) split games in the Greenwood Classic on Saturday, falling to College Heights 1-0, but defeating Aurora 6-2, snapping a fourgame skid. Freshman Cayden Rohde scored his first ever hat trick (three goals) in the win over the Houn’ Dawgs. Prior to the losses, the Wildcats started out at 6-1-1, the best start to a season in more than 15 years. Cassville played at Logan-Rogersville Tuesday, and the Wildcats clash with College Heights again on Thursday.
Cassville softball wins four in a row
The Cassville softball team (10-9) has rattled off four straight wins in the last 11 days. Going 3-2 at the Branson Lady Pirate Invitational, the Lady Wildcats capped the tournament with a 15-0 blanking of Hillcrest. Cassville then defeated Norwood, 4-3, and Seymour, 13-1, on the road, returning home to best Hartville, 8-3. The Lady Wildcats hosted Neosho and Reeds Spring Monday and Tuesday, and they head to Aurora on Thursday.
Lady Wildcats to enjoy week at home
The Cassville volleyball team (1-11) returned home this week for a pair of Big 8 matches. The Lady Wildcats fell on Sept. 22 to Nevada (25-12, 25-14 and 25-18) and on Sept. 20 to Reeds Spring (25-9, 25-16 and 25). Cassville hosted Seneca on Tuesday and will host Aurora on Thursday.
Volleyfest set for Saturday
Southwest High School will host the 39th annual Volleyfest Saturday in Washburn. A total of 10 teams are participating, and action begins at 8 a.m. Joining the Lady Trojans are Crane, Exeter, Verona, Wheaton, Pierce City, School of the Ozarks, Thomas Jefferson and Purdy. T-shirts will be available for $10. Wheaton is the defending champ. Additionally, the Lady Trojans will sponsor Family Night on Oct. 3 against Crane. Action begins with a C game at 5 p.m. Parents, guardians and extended family members will be honored between the JV and varsity games around 6:15 p.m. that night.
