October 11, 1972 Hutchens Surge of Cassville was named a distributor in the area for Mueller Bulk Coolers and Washing Systems manufactured in Springfield. Carol Hutchens was the business owner on Highway 248 east of Cassville.

Carter Koon, of Blalack-Koon Chevrolet in Cassville was elected to a two-year term as district representative of dealerships in the local area to the Kansas City Dealer Council. He attended his first session in late 1972 designed for the company and its dealer organization to better communicate and to plan for mutual progress.

October 6, 1982 The Missouri Show-Me Holstein sale in Springfield in 1982 saw a Barry County animal bring in top money. A three-year-old cow from the Ernest Cowherd farm near Butterfield was purchased by a North Dakota Firm for $12,500 The Cowherd her was recognized as being among the leaders in the area.

The Cassville Democrat reported that the initial showing of fall colors began the first week of October, pointing towards the possibility of an early appearance of Mother Nature’s unveiling of her annual artwork. The third full week of October was rated as the best bet for a full fall color arrival.

Sept. 30, 1992 The annual fall convention of the Southwest District of the Missouri State Teachers Association was held Oct. 9 in Hammons Center on the campus of Southwest Missouri State University. Cassville Director of Special Services for the Cassville school district presided over the general session.

The Cassville Golf Association finished its club championship tournament the last weekend of September, producing a third win for Steve Chasteen. Rob Gripka took second place and Fred Wood took third. Chasteen carded a 143 score over the two-day tournament to win the rain-soaked contest.
