On Thursday the Lady Wildcat golfers competed at the District tournament in Mountain Grove.
Playing for Cassville were Chaney Cox, Gracie Harmon, Adelee Hendricks, Avery Chappell and Maci Barton.
The Lady Wildcats’ hopes of advancing as a team came up a bit short, but it was still a big day for the program, as it marked the first time the Cassville girls competed as a team in postseason play.
“I’m extremely proud of the effort of all these girls,” said Jay Rogers, Cassville golf coach. “On the positive side, Maci and Avery qualified as individuals to play at State. Congrats to them both. Additionally, Chappell’s 4th place finish earned her All-District honors. It was a good day.”
In the Big 8 Conference Championship at Marshfield, the same quintet took third place as a team, just 4 strokes out of a runner-up finish. Individually, Barton finished 12th and Chappell finished 4th, both earning All-Conference honors.
Chappell and Barton will compete next at state in Bolivar on Oct. 17-18.
