Cassville Schools November news letter made a notation about winter heating on the campus. The note stated that thermostats would be set in classroom areas between 62 and 65 degrees. Superintendent Dan Bailey said the goal was slightly lower than settings the previous year, which were 65-68 degrees. He said the district was attempting to lower heating costs. In the 1981 school year, costs for natural gas ran $19,412.42. The previous year, the cost was $27,017.89. The school also suggested students make attempts to dress warmer in the cold winter months to help reduce heating costs.
