Bob Mitchell: Honoring our vets
There won’t be any parades in Cassville to mark the occasion, but Friday, Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day. While not important to some, to approximately 3,000 Barry Countians, living or deceased, who have served in the Armed Forces of this country, this will possibly bring back memories, some that they might enjoy, others they had just as soon forget.

The Mill Street Church of Christ will host a breakfast to honor local veterans on Sunday in the church’s fellowship room. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m.

Wildcats fight to finish, fall 14-7
A momentum swing Cassville’s way at the restart of the rain-postponed district semifinal on Saturday gave the Wildcats a steady boost for three quarters of play, but the turnover bug bit hard and ended the team’s season with a 14-7 loss to Reeds Spring.

The Cassville football team was giving Reeds Spring all it could handle on Friday amid turbulent weather and, ultimately, a delay and postponement just as the Wildcats nearly scored.

It was one of the most backand- forth district quarterfinal games in recent memory, and the Cassville football team wrestled its way to a 24-21 win over Aurora on Friday, setting up a district semifinal contest this week at No. 1 Reeds Spring.

Bob Mitchell: Ardent reader told of Cassville coming
It has been some time since we have been to the Senior Center for lunch. However, on one occasion when we went to the one-time Pet Milk Plant to enjoy some of their cooking, we found ourselves seated at the same table as one of my favorite readers. She always identifies herself as a long time reader.

High fives for good words were on order Thursday at the annual Word Parade at Cassville schools.

Improvements quantified through low-win season
The Southwest volleyball team may not have seen big numbers in the win column this season, but the Lady Trojans’ improvements over their 34 games are quantifiable, and the future is promising. Steve Voyak, Southwest volleyball coach, said at 2-30-2, the team struggled to reach all its goals, but the team’s improvement could be tracks through its stats.
