Man injured in Hwy. 86 wreck

A Shell Knob man was injured in a wreck at 10:05 p.m. Sunday on Highway 86, one mile east of Golden.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Samuel Anderson, 24, of Shell Knob, was driving a 2005 Honda CRV eastbound when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck and embankment and overturned in the highway.

Anderson suffered serious injuries and was transported to Cox Hospital in Springfield.

He was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.

The Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Protection District responded to the scene with a command vehicle, rescue truck, two engines and a tanker, as the initial report was that the vehicle was possibly on fire.

When crews arrived, they found Anderson trapped, but there was no fire. First responders used extrication equipment to free Anderson so he could be transported by ambulance.

That area of Highway 86 was closed until about 11:45 p.m.

Anderson was charged at 11 p.m. with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, no valid license plates, no insurance and no seat belt. He was released for medical care.
