Arsonist targets probation and parole office

The Cassville Police Department is investigating an arson at the District 44 Probation and Parole Office.

According to a press release from the Department, on Dec. 6, police responded to the office, located at 3200 County Farm Road, Suite B, in Cassville.

It was discovered an unknown person or persons had attempted to set the building on fire during the overnight hours. Evidence was collected on the scene, and the suspect remains at large.

Sgt. Donnie Privett, with the Cassville Police Department, said officers found gasoline poured on the exterior wall of the building where the fire began. but did not continue to burn.

The building suffered minimal damage, and the suspects never entered the building.

Privett said police following leads as they come in and are seeking any information that may lead to an arrest and prosecution, and a cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for such.
