Wednesday, December 27, 1972 Pronto 7 to 11, food store and gasoline service, Cassville’s newest business, opened the final week of December 1972. The business was owned by Phil Sells and was managed by Ray Burnette. Geneva Breeden was also employed by the firm. The fuel station was located at Second and South Main in Cassville and community members said the remodeled building was a welcome addition to the community.
Year-end reports of the Missouri Tourism Commission indicated that tourists in the Show-me State spent roughly one billion dollars in 1972. This year’s figures keep the tourist industry the state’s third largest revenue producing industry.

December 22, 1982
Ownership of a business building at Highway 248 and Mill Street in Cassville changed hands. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kidwell purchased the structure from Mr. and Mrs. Bill Edmondson. Firms who were tenants in the building included Keen Livestock, Kidwell Laundry, Ozarks Realty, Edmondson Real Estate and Law Offices of Tom Cardin.
A new business, Craig’s Floral, expected to open the second week in January, according to co-owners Mrs. Glen Craig and Mrs. Dave Craig. The location was in the German Building in South Cassville. Featuring a complete line of floral services, the owners were assisted in the operation by Mrs. Debbie Mickley.

Wednesday, December 16, 1982 Bragging rights on turnips were at stake in Cassville, but as of December 1982, Don Parsons of Cassville had produced one weighing eight pounds, six ounces. Bob Mizer was showing the vegetable off the week leading up to Christmas. He said he had taken Parsons’ offer of collecting a mess at the patch on Old Exeter Road. Parsons said the approximately halfacre garden had plenty of turnips for those who wanted to go after them.
Rainbow Motel in Cassville was back under the ownership of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Strickland. The couple had been residing in Denver, Colo. for the previous year, and resumed operation of the 16-unit breakfast shop facility from Mr. and Mrs. Russ Moore upon their return.
