Joanne Pehkonen, 82, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at Oak Pointe of Monett in Monett.

She was born Feb. 9, 1940, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Edward and Rose (Cieslak) Ziemba who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Charles Pehkonen.

Surivors include, one son, Brian Clancy of Detroit, Mich.; one daughter, Lynn Church and partner Danny Tortorella of Cassville; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Pehkonen of Royal Oak, Mich.; one brother, Patrick Ziemba and his wife Janice of Macomb, Mich.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She grew up and attended school in Detroit, Michigan graduating from Visitation High School. She then attended San Francisco University and earned a Master’s in Business.

In 2017, she moved to Cassville to be near her daughter.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Michigan. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
