Seventh grade football best in Big 8 West Division

Wildcats go undefeated, recognized by conference

After finishing the football season undefeated in 2022, the Big 8 Conference has recognized the Cassville Middle School seventh-grade football team as the 202223 Big 8 Conference West Division first-place winners.

‘Going into the season, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this group of athletes,’ said Robbie Artherton, Middle school football coach. ‘As offseason workouts began last summer, we could quickly see they were going to be a competitive and physical group of kids. They continued to work hard all season long.

“Their hard work and determination earned them an undefeated season and first-place finish. We couldn’t be more proud of them. We are already looking forward to next season.”

The seventh-grade football team is coached by Artherton, Chris Fortner, Nathan Fortner and Trey Dalton.

Results for the team this season, from Sept. 8 to Oct. 20 include:

• Anderson, 36-6

• Nevada, 22-8

• Lamar, 26-0

• Monett, 42-6

• Granby, 32-0

• Seneca, 18-6
