Lady Wildcats get conference win
The Cassville girls basketball team (12-8) picked up a conference win at home on Jan. 26, defeating East Newton, 43-29. Marianne McCrackin led Cassville with 21 points, Pazlee Burbridge added 14, Ashlynn Bryan scored 4, Elly Ramaeker put up 2 and Kyler Hayward and Madison Halterman each had 1. Cassville returns to action on Friday, hosting Nevada.
Southwest falls on road
The Southwest boys basketball team (13-6) fell on the road recently to Spokane, 53-51. Zack Corwin led in scoring with 11, Brendyn Paulsen had 9, Brandon Brooks 8, Kasen Holder 8, Lucas Paulsen 7, Charlie Pippin 5 and Caleb Ayer 3. The Trojans play next on Friday, traveling to Galena.
Lady Trojans drop pair of contests
The Southwest girls basketball team (8-12) fell in its last two contests, one on the road and another at home. The Lady Trojans fell at Billings, 60-35, then returned home and suffered a loss to Spokane, 69-51. Southwest is back in action on Thursday, hosting Galena.
Purdy boys back to winning ways
The Purdy boys basketball team (13-8) turned in a two-win week at home last week. The Eagles defeated Blue Eye, 46-42, then bested Lockwood, 54-40. Purdy’s next contest is on Friday at Crane.
Lady Eagles lose one, win one
The Purdy girls basketball team (4-15) fell on the road and won at home last week. The Lady Eagles lost to Blue Eye, 56-23, then defeated Lockwood, 58-43. Purdy plays next at home against Spokane on Monday.
Wheaton boys split week; Lady Bulldogs fall
The Wheaton boys basketball team (7-15) gained a win and suffered a loss last week. The Bulldogs topped McAuley Catholic on the road, 43-30, but fell to College Heights, also on the road, 64-29. The Lady Bulldogs also fell to College Heights last week, 76-41. Both teams will host Verona on Feb. 7.
Tigers downed by McAuley on Homecoming
The Exeter boys basketball team fell at Homecoming on Friday. The Tigers lost to McAuley Catholic, 54-37. They return to the floor on Thursday, traveling to School of the Ozarks.
