Geneaological and Historical Society hosting planning meeting
Anyone interested in genealogy, history or 140-yearold houses is invited to attend the planning meeting of the Barry County Genealogical and Historical Society on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Bayless/Salyer House on the corner of 9th and Townsend streets in Cassville. The house needs some tender loving care, and plans are being made to raise the necessary funds and donations. Come join us as we work to support this wonderful historic home, a Society press release said.

Activities at the Cassville Branch Library this week include: today, Chair Yoga/Qi Gong at 9 a.m. and Yoga with Tara at 5 p.m.; Thursday, Storytime at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Friday, Chair Yoga/QiGong at 9 a.m. and Popcorn & Movie at 3:45 p.m.; Monday, Library closed; and Tuesday, Chair Yoga/Qi Gong at 9 a.m., Crochet with Ashlyn at 1 p.m., Trivia at 1:30 p.m. and Yoga with Tara at 5 p.m.
Voter registration deadline upcoming
The last day to register to vote is March 8 for those who are not current registered voters of Barry County and who wish to vote in the April 4 General Municipal Election. People may register to vote at the County Clerk’s Office; the Monett Chamber of Commerce; or the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce. Voters should notify the Office if they have moved and have not updated their address, or had a name change. Photo ID is required to vote in the April General Municipal Election. Absentee voting starts Tuesday at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two-week in-person, no excuse absentee voting begins March 21. If unable to vote in person, a voter may send a written request to the office of: Joyce Ennis, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625, or fax to: 417-847-5311. The office will need: name, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee and signature. Those who live in the Shell Knob or Monett area may go to the Shell Knob Chamber or Monett Chamber Office and fill out the absentee application, which they will fax to the Barry County Clerk’s office. Absentee applications are also available at sos.mo.gov. The last day to request an absentee ballot is March 22.
