The former Ole Home Place Flea Market building at the corner of Main and Highway 76 met a sooner than-planned demise on Thursday. Joe Goade, owner of STS Outdoors Guns and Archery on the north side of the building, said crews had used chains to remove two supports from inside the building, then parked their equipment and went to lunch. About 20 minutes later, Goade said he heard a big crack and looked out the window to see a dust cloud and debris headed his direction, as the center of the roof had collapsed. A dump truck and backhoe parked on the north face kept that wall mostly standing, preventing potential damage to parked cars and adjacent storefronts. Goade said some rock rolled under his vehicle, but no damage occurred, and no one was injured.
