Hazel Mae Cowan, 90, of Cape Fair, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Cox Hospital in Branson.

She was born July 8, 1932, in Lawrence County, the daughter of William George and Blanche (Gillespie) Emlet, who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Pamela Jo Lawson and Paula Schneider; three brothers, Gerald, Noel and Gene Emlet and three sisters, Anna Mayberry, Audrey Rosebrough and Grethel Bolin.

Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Mike Lawson and his wife, Candi, of Aurora, and Chuck Cowan and his wife, Trina, of Willard; one daughter, Kathy CowanSmith and her husband, Randy, of Auxvasse; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School.

She was a member of Cape Fair First Baptist Church.

A graveside service, was held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made payable to the Cape Fair First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
