Man charged for Michael’s Burglary

$8K in merchandise stolen from business, recovered next morning

A Cassville man is facing four felony charges after allegedly burglarizing more than $8,000 in merchandise from Michael’s Hardware on March 3.

Aaron Miller, 42, of Cassville, is charged with second-degree burglary, felony stealing, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

According to a press release from the Cassville Police Department, on March 3, officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary at Michael’s, located at 186 Sale Barn Road. 

It was discovered more than $8,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen during the early morning hours. During the investigation of the crime, a suspect was identified. 

The suspect’s vehicle was soon located in a gravel lot south Cassville Middle School, and stolen items were observed in plain view. Two search warrants were subsequently obtained, one for the vehicle and another for the suspect’s residence in the 1300 block of Main Street in Cassville.

Officers from the Cassville Police Department, along with deputies from the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, served the warrants just after 2 p.m. on March 3. Several stolen items, including power tools and knives, were allegedly recovered during the search, as well as evidence of other alleged criminal activity.

Cassville Police Det. Stuart Lombard said a majority of the items from Michaels’ were recovered, but some still remain outstanding.

Miller is not in custody at this time. A cash-only bond has been set at $40,000.
