Southwest’s Humphries Wins 800 at Diamond Track Meet
Southwest Junior Robert Humphries won the 800-meter race in 2:12, and he was third in the mile, and three girls relays medaled at the track invitational at Diamond High School. Additionally, Humphries anchored a thirdplace finish in the 4×400 relay in 3:56, a group that included sophomore Braydan Eggleston, freshman Ivan Suchowski, and junior Ezra Sprowes. The girls were second in the 4×800 and 4×400 and third in the 4×200. Senior Cally Bowyer and junior Abi Floyd were part of all three relay groups. Earlier in the week, the Trojans competed at Republic. Humphries narrowly missed a 5-minute mile (5:00.73) and finished fourth, and all four girls’ relays scored. The girls were sixth in the 4×800 (12:02.90) and 4×200 (2:11.69) and seventh in the 4×100 and 4×400 (4:55.62). Other highlights included: Sprowes seventh in the 100 at 12.27, Humphries seventh in the 800 at 2:18.07, Sophomore Kali Jones eighth in the 800 at 2:57.27, and Bowyer ninth in the 400 at 1:12.44. The team returns to action this week at Reeds Spring and Aurora.
Wildcats compete in Branson
The Cassville boys track and field team competed in the Branson Invitational on March 30, earning eight top-8 finishes. Results include:
