James Robert “Jim” Howerton, 95, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Mercy Hospital Cassville in Cassville.
He was born October 29, 1927 in Butterfield, the son of John and Lela (Leonard) Howerton who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death was his wife, Ann Boyd, and one brother, Bill Howerton.
Survivors include two sons, Eric Howerton of Wichita, Kan. and Alan Howerton and his wife Kam of Cassville; one daughter, Karen Sue Pearce of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He grew up and attended school in Butterfield, graduating from Butterfield High School. After graduation he moved to Wichita, Kan. and was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company for thirty-eight years from where he retired in 1991 as an aircraft salesman. After moving back to Butterfield, he and his wife owned and operated a grocery store for ten years and also farmed, raising cattle.
Private graveside services were held under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Karty Burbridge conducted the services.
