Week of May 1 Cassville wastewater project update

The city of Cassville’s contractor made their progress goal last week, and construction in the 400 Block of 11th Street is substantially complete.

During this week, opentrench construction will continue in the 300 Block of 11th Street (between Harold and Fair). With good weather forecast, the goal for the week is to complete another block if not more.

The road closure on 11th Street was extended on Friday to include the block between Harold and Mill. This two-block closure (Fair to Mill) will continue through at least midweek at which time the 400 Block of 11th Street should be ready to open to through traffic.

The contractor will try to keep access open for local traffic but there will likely be times when equipment or materials will block individual driveways. If residents need to come or go, they can simply inform someone on the construction crew, a city staff member or the project inspector.

This portion of the project may be very disruptive in the immediate area of the excavations, and if anyone has questions or concerns issues, they are asked to call the city.

Work on the trenchless rehabilitation is also expected to continue with cleaning and CCTV Inspections of the sewer pipe that will be relined. This work should cause no more than minor disruptions to drivers with short isolated lane closures.

Please note, the pressurized water jets used to clean the lines can push sewer gases into nearby structures, particularly older structures that are not vented well. The city apologizes in advance for this temporary inconvenience when and where it occurs.
