Wildcats upset Dawgs in districts
The Cassville baseball team (12-18) was the No. 5 underdogs against No. 4 Aurora on Saturday, but the Wildcats turned in a record-breaking baserunning performance en route to a 5-4 win. The first district baseball win for Cassville since 2015, the Wildcats also reached 90 stolen bases on 98 attempts on Saturday, setting a team record for steals in a season. Cassville was scheduled to play No. 1 Monett in the semifinals on Monday, but the game was postponed to Tuesday at 4 p.m., past the print deadline, due to inclement weather. ONLINE UPDATE: The Wildcats fell to Monett in a nailbiter on Tuesday, 2-1.
Wildcats qualify 9 to sectionals
The Cassville boys track and field team qualified nine members to sectionals at the 12-team Class 3, District 6 Meet on Saturday in Hollister. All three relays qualified for the next meet, with the Wildcats winning the 4×800, second in the 4×400 and fourth in the 4×200. As a team, the Wildcats finished in fifth place. Sectional-qualifying performances from the meet include:

Lady Wildcats move on to sectionals
The Cassville girls track and field team qualified seven athletes to the sectional meet at the 14-team Class 3, District 6 Meet in Hollister on Saturday. As a team, Cassville tied for sixth place. Sectional-qualifying results include:

Trojans take 8-game streak into districts
The Southwest baseball team (13-10) took an eight-game win streak into Tuesday’s Class 3, District 11 matchup with East Newton, the result of which was not available at presstime. The Trojans ended the regular season with a 3-1 victory over Spokane, despite being outhit 5-3. Charlie Pippin knocked 2 RBI, and Tristan Morgan went three innings with 5 strikeouts. Zak Corwin added 4 Ks. The Trojans took the No. 3 seed into the district tournament, and played No. 2 East Newton at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Lamar.
Alumni Football Game coming to Cassville
Alumni Football America is back in southwest Missouri, garnering sign: ups for an Alumni Football game between Cassville and Carl Junction on July 15. The game is open to all alumni of Cassville and Carl Junction, and the cost to play is $125. People may register at alumnigame.weebly.com. This would be the second Alumni Football game in the area, as a game between Monett and Cassville was played in 2017, with nearly 700 fans attending. The game is full pads, but with some restrictions to blitzing, quarterback rushing and blocking. The location is yet to be determined. Each team must have 30: 40 players registered for further details to be decided. Rodney Rambo is coordinating the Cassville Alumni Team. An informational meeting will also be held on June 6 at 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center in Cassville.
Mighty Mites set camp dates
The Cassville Mighty Mite Football program has a number of upcoming camps. A soft sign: up for cheer camp will be held Thursday at the aquatic center gazebo, with a $20 charge for a T: shirt on camp day. Cheer Coaches Camp will be June 10 fro 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. those wishing to coach cheer should message the Cassville Mighty Mite Football Facebook page with their name, child’s name, phone number and email. Cheer Camp is June 24 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Rock Gym in Cassville. The camp is for youth in grades 3: 6, and season sign: ups will be accepted at the camp. The cost if $75, or if a child’s uniform from the previous year still fits, $50. Cassville Mighty Mites will host Football Camp July 17: 19 from 6: 9 p.m. nightly at the aquatic center fields. The camp is for youth going into grades 3: 6. Sign: ups for the upcoming season will also be open at the camp, set up at the gazebo. The fee is $100 and due at sign: up. Checks and cash will be accepted. Each player will need to provide padded football pants, cleats, and socks, which they will need these at the first practice.
