Life Change celebrating anniversary
Life Change will celebrate its two-year anniversary on June 3 from 3-6:30 p.m. at the Cassville United Methodist Church parking lot. There will be a no-entry-fee classic car and motorcycle show, with 1st place, 2nd place and people’s choice awards. People can register their cars or motorcycles upon arrival. There will be various children’s activities, as well as a concert by “The Texans” at 5 p.m. Food and drinks will be available. “Bring your car or bike out to show off, or just come out and enjoy the celebration with us,” said Derek Cornelius, with Life Change. The event will be at the parking lot at 601 Gravel St. in Cassville. Life Change is a place where people who struggle in any area of life come together in community to heal, worship, learn, grow in Christ and grow in fellowship with one another.
Barry-Lawrence County Democrats to meet
The Barry-Lawrence County Democrats will hold a monthly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett. Those wishing to eat and converse should arrive by 5:45 p.m. Everyone is responsible for their own meal. The guest speaker will be Springfield State Rep. Stephanie Hein, who will give the group a year-end report on this year’s legislative session.
Shell Knob nominated for Small Town Showcase
Shell Knob has been nominated in the 2024 Small Town Showcase, where five communities will be featured after voting on the 36 total towns nominated. Voting will close on July 15, and the five communities with the most votes will be featured in the 2024 Small Town Showcase. Barn at Bear Ridge hosting adult prom
The Barn at Bear Ridge will host a “Dancing Through the Decades” adult prom on Satuday from 7 p.m. to midnight. People may dress like their prom decade, with a prize to the best-dressed. There will be a cash bar serving drinks all night, music by DJ Will DJ Service and a food truck, Chicago Dogfather. There is a $10 cover charge, and the event is 21-and-up. Alumni Association hosting banquet
The Cassville Alumni Association invites all CHS Alumni to join fellow Wildcat alumni for a banquet on Saturday at the Cassville High School Commons Area. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.. The cost is $15 per person, and payment will be collected at the door. If a class is planning a reunion in conjunction with the banquet, please call the school office at 417-847-2221 and let Dayna know how many tables the class will need for the event. Washburn city-wide yard sale scheduled
The city of Washburn has scheduled its city-wide yard for June 2-3. Residents can get a yard sale permit at city hall and be put on a list of yard sales available at city hall. The city-wide clean-up will be on June 14.
Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open
The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The Market offers fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. Softball game benefitting Wheaton boy
A benefit softball game will be held at the Wheaton ballfields on June 24 at noon. Funds raised will benefit Garrett Roller, 12, of Wheaton, who broke both bones in his leg in a UTV accident in October. Since having his cast off in November, Roller has experienced many complications, resulting in four major surgeries on his leg. He is currently receiving care at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City to treat a bone infection, correct the deformity and hopefully allow the bone to fuse together. Roller is an outdoor-lover, enjoying fishing, gardening and anything to do with farm animals. The cost to enter a team is $250, and there is a $10 cost per entry in the home run derby. The registration deadline is June 19, and people may register by calling the city of Wheaton at 417-652-3314. There will be plated of barbecue chicken and sides for $5 each. Inaugural Cars & Pizza Saturday
The Inaugural Cars & Pizza Cruise-In will be held Saturdy from 1-3 p.m. at the parking lot of Roaring River Health and Rehab, located at 812 Old Exeter Road in Cassville. Registration is free, and the event is free to the public. A $5 meal deal will be available, and donations are welcome. All donations will go toward helping Health and Rehab residents compete in the Golden Age games.
OATS rides available in Barry County
OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-887-9272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.
Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday
The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
