The inaugural Memorial Day Poppy Festival at Pa's Posey Patch south of Cassville boasted a turnout of some 2,000 guests, said Dennis Epperly, the "Pa" of the patch. Owners Dennis and Brenda Epperly hope to make the three-day event an annual tribute to Memorial Day. Professional photographers drive from a wide radius throughout the growing season to use Pa's flower fields as photographic backdrops. Epperly says the Zinnias and Cosmos will be in full bloom by the 4th of July and Sunflowers will be at their peak in early August. Guests are welcome, with donations accepted. Professional photographers are charged a $25 sitting fee for the use of the fields. Pa's Posey Patch is located at 21501 Farm Road 1120, Cassville. Sheila Harris/sheilaharrisads@gmail.com
