Cassville FBLA molds next generation of entrepreneurs
FBLA recently held 8th Grade Entrepreneurship Day for Cassville Middle school eighth-graders. Students were encouraged to come up with an entrepreneurial idea, similar to Shark Tank. High School FBLA members led tables of eighth-graders who competed in both Poster and Commercial categories for their products. The winners received certificates and candy. Guest speaker Dr. Chad Johnson, local chiropractor, came to share his own experiences with starting a small business and being your own boss.
Week of May 1 Cassville wastewater project update
The city of Cassville’s contractor made their progress goal last week, and construction in the 400 Block of 11th Street is substantially complete. During this week, opentrench construction will continue in the 300 Block of 11th Street (between Harold and Fair).

Merlyn Johnson: Teachers do more than just teach
This week (May 1-5) is Teacher Appreciation Week. On behalf of the Board of Education and administration at Cassville R-IV School District, I would like to express my deep gratitude to our educators for the work they do each day to ensure the success of all our students.

Cheryl Williams: Spend this summer ’All Together Now’
The school year is ending, and now the busiest time of the year starts for public libraries. It is Summer Reading time! The Collaborative Summer Library Program, (CSLP), which began in 1987, includes representation from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, and the Mariana Islands.
District softball seeds set
Area softball teams have their seeds determined for upcoming district tournaments, which begin on Friday. Three local schools, Purdy, Exeter and Wheaton, will all play on Friday in the Class 1, District 5 tournament.

The Cassville girls and boys track and field teams competed at the Class 1-2-3 SBU Invite on April 25, with both squads taking eighth place as teams, with 36 teams on the girls’ side and 37 on the boys’. Jolie Evans also added to her record collection, breaking Cassville’s 3200-meter record with an 11:50.68.

Infrastructure surcharge changing for Spire customers
The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Spire Missouri, Inc. (Spire Missouri) to change the Infrastructure System Replacement Surcharge (ISRS) on the bills of its natural gas customers.
