The river is still low and clear the CFS as of Sunday and is almost 19, so with this clear low water, anglers will want to use 2-pound line when they can.
The dry fly-fishing has been fantastic using blue wing olives, elk hair caddis, parachute Adams, Griffiths gnats, beetles and ants.
We are also doing pretty good on some of the smaller grasshopper patterns. For those who enjoy fishing a nymph, I would fish a tan scud, a small copper John, small pheasant tails, small burlaps, sow bugs, and little black zebra midges.
Black, olive and tan woolie buggers have been working well.
As for plastics, the white eggs have been working great, pink eggs and orange eggs are OK, and the yellow 1-inch power bait crawler, gulp, has been working extremely well. The brown has also been good off and on.
The white worms have been working the best, and anglers can get more action out of the thinner worms than thicker worms sometimes — when the water is low and it’s clear, it makes a difference.
Maribou jigs are working great in black and yellow, brown and the olive. White is very good early in the morning, as is the tan. Sometimes, anglers can use a pink and white and do very well.
Spinners are good early, and pink and white produced well on Saturday. It’s good to usually start with black, skunk or brown spinners.
Good luck on the river this week!
