Pedestrian struck in wreck

Vehicle skids into path of another on Hwy. 86

An Arkansas man was injured on July 4 in a wreck at 7:01 p.m. on Highway 86, one mile west of Golden.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Jose Perez Sacalxot, 20, of Berryville, Ark., was driving a 2012 Honda Civic westbound when his vehicle skidded and traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a 2014 Mazda 2, which struck its driver, pedestrian Mario Hernandez DeLeon, 31, of Berryville, Ark.

DeLeon was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, and Sacalxot was not injured.

Both are listed in the report as wearing safety devices. The Honda was totaled, and the Mazda sustained extensive damage.
