Dortha Ann Amos, 81, of Purdy, Mo. passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at Mercy Hospital Northwest Ark. in Rogers, Ark.
She was born September 21, 1941, in Fresno, Calif. to James Bernard and Marjorie (Skelton) Perkins, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Buddy Joe Amos; two sisters, Ollie Mae Williamson and Irene Newell and one great-grandson.
Survivors include her children, Rick (Cezanne) Amos, Janett Hahn and Allen (Kerrie) Amos; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
She attended and graduated from Cassville High School. In 1959 she and Bud moved to Kansas City where she graduated from cosmetology school. After graduation they moved to Excelsior Springs in 1963 where they raised three children. She opened her own hair salon in Excelsior Springs and another salon in Richmond, Mo. and worked as a stylist for 40 years until her retirement. After retiring they moved to the Amos Family Farm in 2004, a third-generation farm.
She was a member of Gunter Methodist Church.
Services were held Friday, July 14, 2023 at Gunter Methodist Church in Butterfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Jerry Nickle and Pastor Mike Tharp conducted the services. Burial was at Gunter Cemetery in Butterfield, Mo.
