School is back in session! On Tuesday, I was invited to witness the annual rites of passage at the high school — games played between the classes. Here, we see five seniors a couple of steps away from winning a tug-of-war game against the freshmen. Don’t worry, freshmen, you’ll get your chance to exert your seniority one day! Other games included a race for items (or people) from the stands, a chanting contest and a “Finish the lyric” song game. While four senior girls knew every word to Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” (not sure if I should be surprised there or not), four sophomore boys flubbed up the Backstreet Boys’ “Tell Me Why.” Come on, fellas, it’s a classic! Good luck to all this year’s students, K-12. Make it a great one! Trout Brown is the comics correspondent for the Cassville Democrat, aiming to point out entertaining happenings in Barry County.
