We read in Ephesians 2:10 that, “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Some translations say, we are God’s “workmanship.”
Others even use the word “masterpiece.”
That is an amazing thought. The God of the universe has handcrafted you.
And, as an artisan might craft a violin to make music, God has crafted you for a purpose as well.
That purpose begins with and centers around your relationship with Him “in Christ Jesus.” As you walk with Him, the rest of God’s plan unfolds to reveal the good work that God calls you to.
Jesus called his disciples to take up their crosses and follow Him. (Luke 9:23) As a symbol of self-sacrifice, the cross of Christ is the focal point of God’s redemptive work of grace in the world.
And, we are invited to participate with Him in that work!
I find it fascinating how different people can be. That uniqueness is a beautiful aspect of God’s design. Some people are gifted in such a way that they can build and fix things. Others can write, some can teach, some can care for others.
For an illustration of what a unique purpose and calling to participate in God’s work looks like, I encourage you to read Jeremiah 1:4-8. As with Jeremiah, there are always obstacles in the path of following Christ to fulfill our God-given purposes. Don’t let those stop you.
God has made you with a purpose and God will enable you to accomplish the good work He calls you to do.
In Christ, as you follow Him, you are never alone.
That is profoundly good news!
When the God of the universe is with you, you have a whole lot of wisdom to guide you.
When the God of the universe is with you, you have a whole lot of power to accomplish your appointed work.
When the God of the universe is with you, you have a whole lot of love to share.
…we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Let’s do that.
