A Golden man died on Aug. 19 as a result of a wreck at 1:30 p.m. on Route J in Golden.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, David O’Cain, 56, of Golden, was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra northbound when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and returned to the roadway, then went off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting the driver.
O’Cain was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen at 2:45 p.m. He was transported to Fohn Funeral Home.
O’Cain was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
This is the 90th fatality for Troop D of the patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
