An uncommon call came into the Cassville Police Department on Monday morning — horse on the loose. The mild-mannered mare was spotted in the Cassville City Park just after 7 a.m., making her way south on the Greenway Trail to the Aquatic Center, where a bystander called the situation in. Cassville Police Officer Zack Thompson, pictured, led the horse into a baseball field using a dog leash, then blocked off exits with vehicles and nearby garbage bins to keep her contained. By 11 a.m., the mare had been moved to a pasture on Farm Road 1110. By 1 p.m., the owner had come to return her to her home just east of Cassville on Highway 248.
