William Theodore “Billy” Thompson, Jr., 89, of Monett, Mo. passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Mo.
He was born December 10, 1933, in Glen Echo, Md., the son of William Theodore Thompson, Sr. and Lillian Thompson, who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were one son, John; one brother, Peewee and three sisters, Thelma, Francis and Betty.
Survivors include three sons, Craig Thompson and his wife Francis of Bend, Ore., Robert Thompson and his wife Dianna of Cassville, Mo., and Paul Thompson of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Teresa Thompson of Phoenix, Ariz. and Edith Thompson of Cassville, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He owned and operated Tommy Thompson Masonry while living in San Diego, Calif. He moved to this area in 1990 coming from San Diego. Billy was a minister at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 18, 2023 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Richard Cummings will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in memory of Billy.
It was an honor caring for Bill at his time at Lacoba. I will never forget his love for Whoppers, ! Rest in peace Bill, you will be missed by many. Prayers and love to the friends and family. ♥️
