Changes coming in Big 8

At a special meeting on Friday, the Mid-Lakes Conference voted to add Hollister, Reeds Spring and Springfield Catholic, reducing the Big 8 to 11 schools for the 2024-2025 school year. More about this story will be released as a fuller picture of the future Big 8 comes into focus.

Wildcats win Greenwood tourney

The Cassville soccer team (8-3-1) won the Greenwood Tournament for the first time in six years with a 3-0 win over the host on Saturday. Cassville defeated Aurora, 7-2, earlier in the day, with Diego Haros contributing four goals and an assist. The Wildcats have won five of their last six, shutting out Marshfield, 1-0, and Crocker, 4-0, with the most recent loss coming to Carl Junction, 3-2, on Thursday.

Lady Wildcats fall in semis of Big 8 Tourney

The Cassville softball team (7-13) won three games in the inaugural Big 8 Conference Tournament Friday and Saturday before falling to Marshfield in the semifinals, 5-4, in 9 innings of play. The Lady Wildcats topped Aurora, 3-1, and Monett, 7-5, in pool play in Cassville on Friday. In the knockout rounds on Saturday, Cassville defeated Logan-Rogersville, 4-3, then fell to Marshfield. Nevada won the tournament, defeating Marshfield, 2-1, in the championship.
