Wildcats to face Greenwood in districts
The Cassville boys soccer team knows its district destiny. The Wildcats earned the No. 5 seed in Class 2, District 5 and will face No. 4 Greenwood at Logan-Rogersville High School on Monday at 3 p.m. The winner will face the No. 1-seeded host school, And on the bottom of the bracket, No. 2 Bolivar faces No. 7 Aurora, and no. 3 Monett takes on No. 6 New Covenant Academy. The Wildcats have split a pair of games against Greenwood this season, winning 3-0 on Sept. 23 to earn the Greenwood Tournament title, but falling to the district foe, 3-1, on Oct. 19. Cassville’s district is one of the most competitive in the state, with all but one team at .500 or above as of Monday, and No. 1 Logan-Rogersville, also ranked No. 1 in Class 3, sporting an undefeated record of 20-0. The Wildcats took them to the second half of overtime on Sept. 26 in a 2-1 loss. Cassville played Clinton on Monday and Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday to end the regular season.
Cassville softball streak ends
The Cassville softball team took a 9-game win streak and its first-ever district title into sectional (Class 3 state quarterfinal) play against Fatima on Saturday, but the Lady Comets (33-4) proved to be too much. The Lady Wildcats fell to Fatima on the road in Westphalia, 14-0. Cassville ends the season at 16-15.
Wildcats XC competes in Big 8, 2nd in Clever
The Cassville cross country teams competed in the Big 8 Conference meet in Cassville on Oct. 17. “Overall, the runners did amazing,” said Erin Flehmer, assistant coach. “The varsity girls finished third, varsity boys seventh, middle school boys second, and middle school girls seventh.”
In the varsity races places 1-7 are First Team All-Conference, 8-14 are Second Team All-Conference, and 15-21 are Honorable Mention All-Conference. in the middle school race, the top 15 medal. Results include:

The Big 8 meet was five days after the teams traveled to Clever to compete on a very fast course. The varsity boys finished second out of 15 teams, and the varsity girls finished sixth. Both middle school teams finished fifth. Every runner had a personal record at the event. The top 30 medaled at the high school events, and top 25 medaled in the middle school runs. Results include:

Local volleyball teams eliminated in districts
No local prep volleyball squads remain in action after district play began last week. Cassville, the No. 3 seed in Class 3, District 12, bested No. 6 Monett 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-20) but fell in the semifinals to No. 2 Mt. Vernon, also 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-17). In Class 1, District 10 action, No. 4 Purdy was upset by No. 5 Verona, 3-2 (28 – 30, 25 – 19, 21 – 25, 25 – 23, 15 – 13). No. 7 Exeter fell to No. 2 College Heights, 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-5), and No. 6 Wheaton fell to No. 3 McAuley Catholic, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18). Finally, in Class 2, District 11, No. Southwest fell in quarterfinal play to No. 3 Marionville, 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-15, 25-21)
