Louise Fay SlackHendrix, 85, of Washburn, Mo. passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the home of her granddaughter in Pea Ridge, Ark.

She was born July 15, 1938, in Deuel County, Neb., the daughter of Alfred and Nellie (Wheeler) Walz who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Johnie Hendrix; her husband Everett “Sandy” Slack Jr.; one son, Royce Slack and one brother, Marv Walz.

Survivors include two sons, Preston Scott (Sherry) Slack of Seligman, Mo., and Shawn Slack (Dorothy Fuller) of Garfield, Ark.; one daughter, Cheryl Laughlin of Pineville, Mo.; one brother, Jerry Walz of Cody, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Theo Walz of Arthur, Neb.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren, and 13 step great-grandchildren.

She grew up in the Sandhills of Arthur County, Neb., and graduated from Arthur County High School, later attending Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb. where she attained an associate degree in elementary education. She went on to teach in rural, one room classrooms in Neb.

She was a member of Prairie Hill Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Jerry Williams and Pastor Johnie Wayne Hendrix will conduct the services. Burial will be at King Cemetery in Seligman, Mo..

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
