Elvin Wayne Hood, 86, of Neosho, Mo. passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born March 11, 1937, in Blackwell, Oklah. the son of Hugh and Stella (Evans) Hood, who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death was his wife Shirley White; one son, Rick Hood; two sons-in-law, Rick Plett and Jonathon Brobston; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife Royanne Darby; two sons, Kevin Hood and his wife Vickie of Inola, Oklah. and Rodney Hood and his wife Margaret of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Penny Iness and her husband Ken of Wagoner, Oklah., Stephanie Burks of Wichita, Kan. and Tammie Brobston of Green Forest, Ark.; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, Mo., later attending aviation maintenance school where he obtained a Federal Airframe and Powerplant License. He was employed by Learjet as a mechanic for several years, from where he retired in 1998. After retiring he began woodworking and opened a shop at Silver Dollar City with his daughter, Penny. He attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Neosho.
Services were held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at First Free Will Baptist Church in Neosho, Mo., under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Barry Reel conducted the services. Burial was at McCullough Cemetery in Viola, Mo..
