Cassville wrestling squads bring 10 total medals home

The Cassville boys and girls wrestling teams brought home a combined 10 medals, including two golds, from the Monett Invitational tournaments on Friday and Saturday.
For the Wildcats, 106-pounder Kaleb Artherton earned a first-place medal, pinning his way through five opponents. On the girls’ side, Faith James, at 140 pounds, also pinned five opponents on her way to gold, with only one match lasting more than 2 minutes.
Other boys placements included: Riley James, 150 pounds, second place; Tristan Thompson, 157 pounds, second place; Jesse James, 215 pounds, third place, Bradly Stumpff, 120 pounds, fourth place; and Ethan Sizemore, 285 pounds, fourth place. In their championship matches, James lost to a Springdale Har-Ber (Ark.) opponent by an 11-2 decision, and Thompson was pinned in 1:02 by a Pleasant Hill opponent, ho places second in state in 2023.
Other placements for the girls included: Breanna Gordon, 120 pounds, second place; Analeigh Winchell, 145 pounds, second place; and Rebekah Fry, 155 pounds, third place. Gordon and Winchell fought to the finish of their title bouts, pinned at 3:48 and 3:46, respectively.
The Lady Wildcats finished runner-up in the 21-team tournament with 140 points. Belton won the event with 176 points. The boys finished sixth out of 14 teams with 204.5 points. Pleasant Hill won the tournament with 226.5 points.
