Phyllis Dell (Ward) Hayworth, of Neosho, Mo. passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Phyllis Dell Ward was born on June 1, 1948, at North Little Rock, Ark. to Elva E. and Verla Mae (Hendrickson) Ward, who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death was an infant brother, Edwin Lee Ward.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Dene Hayworth; two sons, Chad Hayworth (Jennifer) of Neosho, Mo., and Justin Hayworth (Callie) of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, with a third on the way; a sister, Donna Akins of Sherwood, Ark., and a brother, Nevin Ward (Carol) of Wichita Falls, Texas.

She graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood, Ark. in1966.

After her husband’s stint in the Air Force, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where they raised their family. She was a long-time volunteer at the Wichita River Festival, the historic Orpheum Theatre and with the Society of Professional Journalists’ Gridiron Show.

She moved to Neosho in 2010.

Services were held Monday, January 22, 2024, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball conducted the services. Burial was at Hazelgreen Cemetery in Boulder City, Mo.
