Carrie Louise Rose

It is with heavy hearts and precious memories we share the passing of Carrie Louise Rose, age 97, of Cassville, Missouri. Carrie passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Arkansas after a sudden illness.

She was born February 17, 1926, on a farm in Barry County, Missouri, the daughter of Charlie Lewis and Anna Ellery “Ann” (Pendergraft) Patterson. On January 29, 1949, in Pittsburg, Kansas she was united in marriage to C.S. Rose, who preceded her in death on July 23, 2015. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Florence Rose and Gusta Watson and a son-in-law, Walter Preston.

Surviving are one son, Greg Rose and his wife Shelley of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Judy Preston of Titusville, Florida; two grandchildren, Sheridan and her husband Cary of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Samuel of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Carrie grew up and attended school in Washburn, Missouri graduating from Washburn High School. She was employed as an operator by a telephone company for several years. Carrie loved crocheting, gardening, tending to her flowers and traveling. She was a very talented interior decorator and an exceptional seamstress making her daughter’s original wedding gown which later won her a fancy sewing machine as her daughter entered the gown in a fashion show.

After Carrie and C.S. were married they lived in 29 different locations mainly due to his job in the aerospace field. They retired to Joplin, Missouri where they raised blueberries and blackberries and in 1996 returned to Barry County to enjoy life. Carrie was a member of Prairie Hill Baptist Church in Washburn.

Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Jerry Williams conducted the services. Burial was at King Cemetery in Seligman, Missouri.

The family received friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Prairie Hill Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Carrie.
