Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on Missouri Route 86 in in Taney, Stone and Barry counties and Route F in Barry County for a resurfacing project beginning Monday.
The Missouri Department of Transportation said Route 86 will receive a new asphalt driving surface, edge line rumble strips, shoulder repairs, guardrail and road markings in various locations.
Route F will receive a new asphalt driving surface and shoulders will be widened by 2 feet in some locations. Work will be done during the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
Contractor crews will begin resurfacing work on Route 86 at the Kings River bridge just west of the Barry/ Stone County line and work east to Missouri Route 13 near Blue Eye.
Project locations include:
• Route 86 between Route 65 south of Hollister and Missouri Route 76 southeast of Cassville
• Barry County Route F between Missouri Route 112 in Roaring River State Park and Route 86 north of Eagle Rock Traffic impacts include:
• Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are laying asphalt
• Route 86 and Route F are open
• Drivers on Route 86 and Route F will encounter flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zones or before entering the work zones from a side road.
• No signed detour
• Drivers should find alternate routes
• Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
• Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
The prime contractor for the project is Capital Paving & Construction, of Columbia, and the total project cost is $4.7 million. Work is expected to be completed by July 1, 2025.
