1. What will be your approach to economic development and growth of the city?
Economic development for communities of our size is tough. That’s why most communities of our size don’t even pursue economic development strategies. Or, if they do, they outsource the economic development work to companies in Kansas City or Springfield. That’s why I believe we should continue to actively pursue the economic development strategy that the city put into place in 2018, which uses Cassville people to promote Cassville. That strategy brought Wintech to our great town. Simply put, we have to work each and every day looking for opportunities to grow and develop Cassville. We have to outwork our competing communities.
2. How can Cassville increase its sales tax revenues through tourism?
We are the home of Roaring River State Park, which has over 1.8 million visitors annually. Continuing to communicate our tie to Roaring River and Table Rock Lake is our key to growing our tax revenues through tourism. Events and methods which create awareness of Cassville to tourists will benefit our town.
3. CPD recently became fully staffed. What areas of law enforcement do you see as most important with a fully-staffed department?
It’s great to see our police department fully staffed. Proactive policing and flexible staffing, which are tied to times and days of the week needing the most attention, are steps that are important to fighting crime in our community.
4. What (if any) capital projects would you like to pursue if elected?
Street improvements are very important to our town. Completion of the sewer and water projects will benefit our town in the future.
5. How can Cassville increase its benefit to industries and create more jobs in the area?
This goes back to having an economic development strategy. This provides us with the ability to recruit potential employers and to respond promptly and professionally when potential businesses are looking at coming to Cassville.
