A Cassville man is facing seven felony charges after allegedly breaking into a Barry County home and assaulting two people while in the nude.
Kory Hilburn, 19, of Cassville, is charged with first-degree assault (attempted murder), first-degree burglary, abuse of a child, two counts of armed criminal action and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Doug Henry, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on March 14, Hilburn allegedly unlawfully entered the residence in the Cassville area but outside of city limits.
According to a press release from Sheriff Danny Boyd, Hilburn allegedly forced entry into the home through the side door.
Hilburn allegedly physically assaulted two victims while in the nude, using his hands and a rifle to beat the first victim in the head to the point of hospitalization. Victim No. 2 and victim No. 3 are juveniles, and Hilburn allegedly struck victim No. 2 in the head and used one of the guns to push against his throat. Victim No. 4 arrived while Hilburn was allegedly in the residence.
According to Boyd’s release, deputies detained Hilburn as he was walking down the road. The release also said during the assault of victim No. 1, a firearm was discharged and struck Hilburn.
Victim No. 1 and Hilburn were both transported to area hospitals for medical treatment.
Henry noted in the statement Hilburn allegedly exhibited signs of being under the influence, including acting in a zombie-like manner and being unresponsive to com- mands; however, Henry said Hilburn had no substances in his system at the time.
Hilburn is being held in the Barry County jail on no bond. He has been arraigned, and a bond appearance hearing is set for Thursday at 9 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
