A Cassville man is facing three felonies and a misdemeanor after allegedly stealing a generator and fleeing from deputies.
Anthony Larson, 34, of Cassville, is charged with felony stealing, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm and misdemeanor driving while revoked.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Doug Henry, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, on April 19, a business owner in Eagle Rock reported the alleged theft of a generator valued at $800.
The owner notified deputies a white Ford pickup had pulled into the parking lot, and the occupants of the vehicle took the generator.
Henry and other detectives were able to locate the vehicle on Farm Road 2285, east of Farm Road 1180, and Henry activated his emergency lights and sirens to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle allegedly accelerated at a high rate of speed west on Farm Road 2285 to Farm Road 1180.
The vehicle then allegedly fled north on Farm Road 1180 for approximately 1.5 miles to a residence in Eagle Rock.
The vehicle then stopped, and the driver, Larson, was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle allegedly located a .22-caliber pistol, containing two live bullets, in the center console.
Larson has an outstanding warrant in Wheaton and is on probation for possession of a controlled substance. He also has three or more convictions for driving while revoked, Henry said.
Larson has been arraigned, and a bond hearing is set for Thursday at 9 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
