Senior Robert Humphries (steeplechase), junior Braydan Rose (javelin) and senior Juliauna Sierra (javelin) all set school records at the Southwest Baptist University Relays, which featured 59 schools in classes 1-2-3.
Humphries won the 2000-meter steeplechase in 6:42.70, beating 41 other runners. Crowder College standout Christian Long had the old record of 7:19.25, set in 2022.
Rose shattered the boys javelin record with a throw of 35.7 meters, besting current senior Chuck Pippin’s mark of 32.69, also established in 2022.
Finally, Sierra made a throw of 23.8 meters to beat current senior Lilly Wolf’s old mark of 21.91 again from 2022.
Other highlights from the meet included:
• Humphries improved his two-mile time by 13 seconds, running a 10:15.27, giving him the 10th fastest time in the state in Class 2.
• Sophomore Tobi Smith ran a personal record in the 800 in 2:22.83, nearly winning his heat.
• Junior Kali Jones set a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 18.2 meters.
The team travels to Skyline High School on Saturday for the Class 2 District meet.
