First State Bank of Purdy is excited to announce the celebration of its 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of unwavering commitment to the community.
“Since our founding in June 1944 as the successor to the First National Bank of Purdy, we have proudly served our neighbors with integrity, dedication, and a personal touch,” a bank press release said.
A Legacy of Growth and Achievement
First State’s journey began with original directors Raymond Brite, Bert Catron, A.M. Gurley, Jr., John Miller, and John Moore. In 1974, Glen Garrett and Jack Fox acquired the bank, managing assets of $2 million. Recognizing the need for growth, First State moved into a new facility in 1977, leaving behind its old storefront building.
In December 1987, First State merged with Citizens National Bank of Monett/Pierce City, expanding its reach to three towns. Glen Garrett was elected Chairman of the Board and CEO, with Ann Hall as President.
First State’s expansion continued with new facilities in Monett (1991) and Cassville (1995), and its first retail banking location in the Monett Walmart Supercenter in 1998.
“Today, First State Bank of Purdy stands strong with assets exceeding $215 million, over 50 dedicated employees, and five locations,” the release said. “Our directors, Randy Henderson, Bill Shiveley, Danny Vaughn, Kevin Jackson, Jeff Scott and John Garrett, guide our mission to meet the diverse needs of our community.”
Extensive Renovations and Upgrades at Purdy Location
First State’s Purdy location has undergone impressive renovations and upgrades, perfectly complementing its efforts in its “Revitalizing Our Roots” campaign.
“These enhancements reflect our commitment to blending modern banking conveniences with the trusted, hometown feel our customers have come to appreciate,” the release said.
