— BARBER SHOP MOVES

Stumpff Barber Shop has moved from its former West Seventh Street to a new location in the 600 block of Main Street into newly remodeled spaces, Rex Stumpff, owner, recently purchased the space from Fred Meador.

—STATE POSTS FOR RAINBOW ORDER GIRLS

Angie Farwell was appointed 1974-75 Grand Representative of the State of California to the State of Missouri, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, at the Missouri Grand Assembly last week in Kansas City. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Farwell of Eagle Rock, and is a past Worthy Advisor of the Cassville #37 Assembly, Order of Rainbow. Tracy England, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles England of Cassville served as Grand Representative of Florida to Missouri during 197374 and gave her report at this Grand Assembly in addition to taking part in the formal drill by the Grand Representatives. She is also a Past Worthy Advisor of the Cassville Assembly. Mary Ann and Angie Farwell and Lynn and Tracy England also were members of the State Grand Cross Choir with Angie singing a solo at the State Grand Cross Luncheon. Other members from the Cassville Assembly attending the Grand Assembly which was held at the Hotel Muehlebach were Yvonne and Diane Young and Mary Jo Lamberson of Wheaton, accompanied by Advisory Board member, Mrs. Ray Farwell of Eagle Rock and Mother Advisor, Mrs. Charles England of Cassville.

— COUNTY LOWEST IN UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

Missouri labor market conditions showed continued improvement in May with employment rising and unemployment substantially lower. According to Paula V. Smith, director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, the unemployment rate dropped nine-tenths of a percentage point to 7.1 percent. Smith said, “At the same time total employment increased by 28,600 to 2,235,000 in May.” She added that a year-to-year comparison reveals the striking change which has taken place since May, 1983. In that 12 month period, Smith said, total employment grew by 103,300 while unemployment decreased by 70,600. The May, 1983 rate was 10.2 percent. Area county statistics include: Barry 5.8, Lawrence 7.6, McDonald 7.5, Newton 7.2 and Stone 7.4.

— NEW OWNERS TOWN HOUSE RESTAURANT

Cassville’s Town House Restaurant is operated by new owners effective Sunday. Don and Wanda Watson, formerly of Altus, Okla., have purchased the facility from Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Cosner. The transition was effective July 1. Watson, a veteran of 25 years’ service in the Army, has also been associated with military club management and food service as a civilian Air Force employee. Attaining the rank of Sergeant Major, 18 years of his service was overseas duty. Mr. and Mrs. Cosner, who have owned the Town House for 10 years, said their plans were to remain at Table Rock Lake property they own near Reeds Spring. “Our association in this area has been enjoyable,” the Cosners said, “We do not plan to leave south Missouri.” Watson said a number of changes and improvements would be planned for their operation of the business. Debbie Workman of Lee Moore and Co. real estate firm here handled the sale.

— INTERN PROGRAM

A journalism graduate student at the University of Arizona from Washburn, Tammy Gantt, is interning this summer at the American Quarter Horse Association. Her college studies include racetrack industry pro-grams. As part of her responsibilities, she will issue news releases concerning quarter horse events throughout the summer. As part of her training, she will also tour tracks and museum facilities maintained by the association. Last year she interned in the marketing department of U. S. Trotting Association. Career sights are in the racing industry. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gantt of Washburn.

—LADY WILDCATS SHINE DURING CROWDER CAMP Cassville Lady Wildcats had 23 players in the Crowder team basketball camp this past week. The varsity lady wildcats went 21- 6-1 for the week. The J. V. Lady Wildcats finished second in the camp J. V. tournament. Sophomore Jonea Rima won the varsity “Hot-Shot” competition and the “Gotcha” tournament. Participating were senior, Jill Litzinger; juniors Toni Hayes, Destiny Fare, Jennifer Mrstik, Becky Richardson and Katy Hutton; sophomores, Rima, Shayna Miller, Stacy Kelley, Brandi Lancaster, Tracy Cornman, Heidi Kier, Anna Woods and Amy Arnold; freshmen, Lindsay Cowan, Lindsay Hutton, Jennifer writer, Rachel Williams, Tiffany Urbina, Amanda Huse, Brynn Barton, Tina Stanford and Krista Smith. Ron Cowan and Jim Williams coach the Lady Wildcats.
