Barry County Sheriff’s Office calls for service and reports taken, June 3-9
The Barry County Sheriff's Office responded to 215 calls for service for the week of June 3-9. The CAD events created by central dispatch are the Calls for Service Barry County Officers respond to every day, included in those calls are alarms, assaults, burglaries, domestic disturbances, DWI's, stealing, harassment, medical issues, paper service, prisoner transports, suspicious persons, traffic stops and warrant service.

Haven of the Ozarks: Pet of the Week, June 5
Mayo is just the sweetest girl. She came in covered with ticks and was starving. She is now thriving and learning that people aren’t as scary as she first thought. In fact, hugs and cuddles are her favorite. Her breed is unknown, and her estimated DOB is Jan. 18, 2024. All dog adoptions at the Haven are half-price in June.Adopters can complete the adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks. org/adopt. No appointment needed for adopters. The Haven is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. All Haven of the Ozarks pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. Lady ‘Cats set wins record
A new era of Cassville girls soccer is dawning following a record-setting season that ended in one of the most painful ways in the sport — a penalty shootout. This year’s Lady Wildcats set the record for wins with a 13-6-2 mark, besting the 11-10 record of the first varsity season in 2019, and it tied its season record for shutouts with 8.

Local authors published in Crowder Quill
Mid South Writers announced this week that four of its members won contests sponsored by Crowder College and have their writings featured in the 2024 Crowder Quill, released this month. Linda Sartin, of Cassville, won gold in Non Fiction for “Our Comet” and an Honorable Mention in Poetry for “In Memory.” Kristen Stough, of Cassville, a Crowder student, took gold in the Fiction category for “The Reaper Meets a Frightened Child.” Prix Gautney, of Cassville, won silver in Fiction for “Big Black Horse and an Apple Tree.” Susan Eschbach, of Cassville, took bronze in Fiction for “The Traveler.” “Our members are thrilled to be included in this year’s Crowder Quill,” said Eschbach, president of Mid South Writers.
