Home Sports Rainey returns to Junior Olympics Rainey returns to Junior OlympicsJuly 16, 2024Sports Cole Rainey, 11, of Cassville, will compete in the Junior Olympics for the third year in the row. In his first two years, Rainey competed in the high jump, and this year, he switched to the 80-meter low hurdles. Rainey is a member of the Springfield track club, practicing twice a week in Springfield through the summer. To qualify for the Junior Olympics, Rainey competed in the AAU summer track and field program taking second at districts (top four advance) to move on to regionals. He then placed fourth in regionals, earning the final qualifying spot to the Junior Olympics. The U.S. is split into six regions and the top four from each region will compete on July 31 in North Carolina.
