Bicyclist struck by vehicle in Cassville

A Cassville man was injured on July 13 when he was bicycling on Old Highway 37 and collided with a vehicle.

According to a Cassville Police Department report, at 7:39 a.m. on July 13, police were dispatched to the area of State Highway 76 and Old Highway 37 for a vehicle vs bicycle motor vehicle accident.

Investigation revealed a northbound Jeep Renegade, driven by Barbara Bowers, collided with a northbound bicyclist, identified as James Smith.

According to Bowers, Smith was originally on the southbound shoulder of the roadway, then began changing lanes and went from the southbound shoulder to the northbound lane.

Bowers said she honked her horn at Smith and drove into the northbound shoulder to avoid an accident, but Smith still struck her vehicle.

Smith was transported to Mercy Cassville Hospital with non- life- threatening injuries. Bowers was not injured in the crash.
