Clarence “Del or Sonny” Everett Dellinger Jr., passed away on the morning of July 18, 2024, in Cassville, Mo.
He was born March 30, 1931, to Clarence Everett Dellinger Sr. and Cora Elizabeth Glazebrook in Kansas City, Mo, who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death was his brother, Eugene, and his late wife, Alice L. Shaw.
Survivors include his wife, Bette Wiersema; his beloved children, David (Jackie) of Louisburg, Kan., Jan; stepdaughter, Rhonda Lopez; stepson, Rod Detra; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and may other relatives and friends.
He spent his early years at their family home at 39 Cambridge in Kansas City, Mo.
He and Alice lived in Overland Park, KS until moving to Louisburg, KS in 1971. They remained in Louisburg until 1995 when they moved to Eagle Rock, Mo.
He and Bette lived in Eagle Rock until 2020 when moving to Cassville, Mo.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Korea with the 39th Fighter Squadron in 1951. After his military service, he continued to make significant contributions to his community and country through his work with the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) from 1957 to 1967 and later with the General Services Administration (GSA) from 1967 to 1986.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Louisburg, where his faith and community involvement were central to his life. He was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the First Christian Church of Berryville, Mo.
Visitation for Clarence Everett “Del” Dellinger, Jr. was held Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Mo.
Additional Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at First Christian Church of Louisburg in Louisburg, Kan. Burial to follow at the Louisburg Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Louisburg VFW post 7348 and American Legion post 250.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Clarence’s memory.
