An Arkansas man was injured on Friday in a wreck at 12:01 a.m. on Highway W, two miles east of Wheaton.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Thomas Barnes, of Yellville, Ark., was driving a 2025 Peterbilt northbound when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

Barnes suffered serious injuries and was transported by Lifeflight helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

He was wearing a seat belt, and the vehicle was totaled.
